XP: London Rules

How experience is awarded at this table. Everyone gets a base; the seven below earn you highlights on top.

The base

Every player at the table gets the same base XP for the session. You showed up; the floor is shared. Everything below is additive.

Bumps

Bump 1

Creative decisions

A move that the table will still be talking about next session.

Cade leaps off the cliff onto the beholder. Erdan uses the beholder’s mouth as a step-stool.

2
Bump 2

Played true to your character

You acted like the person on the sheet, even when it cost you. A strong backstory makes this much easier — hint, hint.

Elliel doing Elliel things. Ash’s sheer determination.

3
Bump 3

Teamwork

You set up a teammate, covered for a teammate, or pulled the party out of a hole.

4
Bump 4

Role-playing

You stayed in voice. You talked to the NPC. You let the scene breathe.

5
Bump 5

Role-playing

Yes, twice. It’s that important.

6
Bump 6

Donuts

Anyone who brings donuts.

Costumes

Show up in costume. Doesn’t have to be much. The table is a stage.

Why not milestones

Milestone XP makes the dungeon entrance the only thing that matters. Time in a tavern, an hour spent puzzling out what’s really happening in the wider world, the quiet scene that decides who your character actually is — milestones quietly tell you those don’t count.

They do here. There's also an overlapping game coming that leans hard on team play, and milestones would flatten that too.

Help me make this better

What's missing? What would you add? Tell me here at the table or DM me. You can only help me make it better — there are no bad ideas.
